Hummer Turfgrass has been contracted to perform the maintenance on the Riviera Bermuda surface which is used by University of Pennsylvania Men’s and Women’s Soccer as well as for practices by visiting MLS and European teams.
Aside from executing a full maintenance plan on Rhodes Soccer Field, Hummer Turfgrass Systems was hired to Fraze mow Rhodes, which is Bermuda grass overseeded with ryegrass. This was done at the end of June in order to level the playing surface, remove poa annua, and stimulate new Bermuda grass growth. The field was also overseeded with Riviera Bermuda grass to thicken the existing stand.
Rhodes Field was originally built in the 1990’s by Hummer Turfgrass Systems. In the summer of 2013 the University decided to move the field 30 yards south to feature new bench areas and game operations for television and marketing purposes. Hummer Turfgrass was contracted by the consultant to complete the laser grading. The rootzone was laser graded to an eighth of an inch tolerance at half percent crown.
